FTC to Crack Down on 'Credit Repair' Services

The Federal Trade Commission announced today that it will hold a press conference along with 25 state agencies in 23 states to announce parameters for its 'Operation Clean Sweep,' designed to identify and hold liable companies advertising credit repair services. The FTC claims this practice is deceptive as the 'repair' services tout the ability to remove negative information from a credit report, regardless of whether that information is accurate.

The conference is scheduled for October 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the FTC Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
