I signed, then later on (a year or two) the building I worked in got sold to another. Then after that the building closed and i was transferred to another building (in 2008). In 2009 I was again asked to sign another non compete agreement, in lieu of a whopping raise (about 15 cents). I needed the job, and feared I would lose it if I didn't sign, so I signed. Now the company I work for has lost their contract and are telling me I can not stay and work for the company taking over because of this non compete, only in the areas of services they provide, which are laundry, housekeepng, and dietary. So, I was offered a job in a totally different field (my current supervisor at first said that I could take any other job other than the three mentioned above, but the company that owns the building says not for 12 mos. now! So basically I am screwed unless new company gets me out of this non compete somehow. It also states for a period of 2 years I can not work ANYWHERE in these areas, which really sucks, as this is a very rural area and there are NO JOBS.
