I just received a contract (they're asking me to sign) that states they will take 9% sales tax off my bid price and THEY will pay the state of Louisiana this amount. They go on to state that I would then be "Tax Exempt" and that "State Resale Certificates" would be made available. This company is headquarted in Louisiana. I suppose they own the business I am contracting them to clean. My question is this: Do I have to pay sales tax on the labor I perform? If so, Louisiana sales tax is 3.9%. Why are they asking for 9% to be subtracted from my fee for "sales tax?" When our regional union rep calls our HR dept, she has to leave a message as their caller ID alerts HR as to who is calling. Our HR dept returns the calls AFTER normal buisness hours when the union rep is not in. We probably have 10 grievances that can be arbitrated right now. My question is: How can we force management to arbitrate in a timely manner?
