Recently moved to SC. Went to Berkeley Elec. Cooperative to have power turned on. Requirements for service are a minimum credit score of 750 or a $250.00 deposit + associated fees. I do not have a 750 along with 70% (est.) of US population. I have not been required to pay a deposit in several years and have a perfect record for paying my utilities on time. When I asked "how long do you hold the deposit?" I was told 2 yrs. I asked "What is the current interest rate I will be paid on the deposit?" The response was "A lot of people ask that question, we don't pay interest."

Is this legal? No interest? 2yrs?

What relief are you seeking? Do you want to receive compensation? How much and how did you come by that figure? Are you trying to get out of the purchase agreement? It seems like those are your two main options, but you need to decide what it is you want.

I am currently seeking legal help/counsel to aid in a South Carolina matter. In the home buying process the seller has tampered with the house to patch active leaks so the inspector could not have visual. Also, the licensed contractor and agreed upon repairs have been ignored and deception has been plenty abound. A contracted, family-relative "handy-man" with very poor reviews was used from GA, in a company that does NOT contract to SC and has contradicted himself, painted over the rot, and only put in new material, forged a report stating no damage, when all damage has been visible, we have video and picture evidence, and a licensed inspector stating there was, as well as an agreed repair contract to replace and repair all damage in areas agreed upon. They are tampering and deceiving at every turn. What do we do?

My fiancé bought an 05 Chevy Malibu about 2 months ago. It didnt have a buyers guide on the window. They stated that nothing was wrong with the car after she told them there was popping in the steering. The steerin has continued to pop and lock up often. They've claimed to have fixed it. It's been replaced 3 times now and we still have the same problem. We have 3 small children and I'm afraid the steering will lock up one day and we will wreck. What can we do? Is this under any law?

My teacher just informed me that if a vehicle in Florida is rear ended while turning left it is the fault of the vehicle that is turning.

According to my teacher, if car C rear ended car B while it waited to turn left because car A was coming from the opposite direction, it would be car B's fault.

This took some digging. The "Myers Act" was a law in Florida formally titled "The Comprehensive Alcoholism Prevention, Control and Treatment Act." It was located in chapter 396 of the Florida Statutes. In 1993 it was replaced by the Hal S. Marchman
Alcohol and Other Drug Services Act of 1993, sometimes called the Marchman Act for short. Your question is very general, but I suggest you look over the Marchman Act, also known as chapter 397 of the Florida Statutes, and post any specific question you may have.
