Cash was seized from me following a traffic stop (warning only) in the state of Illinois. A preliminary determination hearing is scheduled next week and I want to know if attending the hearing (2/3 across the country) is to my advantage. Would a lawyer be cost effective? Is there an opportunity at this kind of hearing to present my case against there being "probable cause for forfeiture"?
