On August 4, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich signed a new domestic violence law, the Cindy Bischof Law, to create a new early warning system by allowing satellite tracking of people who violate orders of protection. Senate Bill 2719, sponsored by State Senator Susan Garrett (D-Highwood) and State Representative Suzanne Bassi (R-Palatine), allows courts to order abusers or stalkers to wear a GPS device and be subject to GPS monitoring. The law goes into effect on January 1, 2009. Press Release
