The Birmingham News reports that attorneys for the city of Birmingham, Alabama have filed suit against multiple lenders including Regions Bank, Wells Fargo and Countrywide Bank, alleging predatory lending practices in violation of the federal Fair Housing Act. However, Mayor Larry Langford disagrees with the charges and is attempting to have them withdrawn. Langford claims that the stated defendants have since started working with troubled homeowners to improve the status of their loans and wants to give them ample opportunity to do so.
