OrlandoSentinel.com reports that the National Rifle Association (NRA) is trying to prevent Barack Obama from winning the election of 2008 by spending more than $10 million in anti-campaign ads. The gun-rights group claims that the Senator's discussions of supporting the Second Amendment do not match his voting record, and would be the "most anti-gun president in American history." NRA officials claim Obama has voted in the past against measures that would prevent unregistered gun owners from being prosecuted if the weapon is used in self-defense. They also state the Senator refused to pass a bill that would protect gun manufacturers from lawsuits claiming liability. GunBanObama.com is a website the NRA has created to spread the word about their views against Obama. Obama's campaign has responded by stating that claims he would raise and impose new taxes on firearms and ammunition are untrue and the ads run by the NRA violate federal laws due to the misleading and deceptive nature of the content.
