Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 39:4-8.21
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
3. A county, municipality, or the board of directors or the board of trustees of any corporation or other institution of a public or semipublic nature, not for pecuniary profit, having control over private roads subject to the provisions of Title 39, may construct, without the approval of the Commissioner, a curb extension or a bulbout on any street under its jurisdiction.
