Going thru papers of my mother's...shows a balance 5,006.40 at 12/31/73...I am asking because I believe she had some life insurance under this program and don't remember having received from the policy. Can you look this up for me. Thanks in advance. [personal information redacted]

You should contact the state employee retirement office to find out this information. If she had life insurance, they might be able to tell you about it over the phone, in my experience. They will generally require a death certificate with the cause of death listed, if there is life insurance.
