• Allegation: something that someone says happened.
• Articles of organization: means the document described in ORS § 63. See Oregon Statutes 63.001
• association: means the association provided for under ORS § 100. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Audiologist: means a person who practices audiology and who uses publicly any title or description of services incorporating the words 'audiologist,' 'hearing clinician,' 'hearing therapist' or any similar titles or descriptions of service. See Oregon Statutes 681.205
• Bailiff: a court officer who enforces the rules of behavior in courtrooms.
• Board: means the Citizens' Utility Board of Governors. See Oregon Statutes 774.010
• Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
• Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
• County court: includes board of county commissioners. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
• Court reporter: A person who makes a word-for-word record of what is said in court and produces a transcript of the proceedings upon request.
• Declarant: means a person who records a declaration under ORS § 100. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Declaration: means the instrument described in ORS § 100. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Devise: To gift property by will.
• Distribution: means a direct or indirect transfer of money or other property, except of a limited liability company's own interests, or a limited liability company's incurrence of indebtedness to or for the benefit of the limited liability company's members in respect of a member's interests, whether in the form of a declaration or payment of profits, a purchase, retirement or other acquisition of interests, a distribution of indebtedness, or otherwise. • District: means an electoral district for members of the Citizens' Utility Board of Governors. See Oregon Statutes 774.010
• Docket: A log containing brief entries of court proceedings.
• Executive session: A portion of the Senate's daily session in which it considers executive business.
• Extradition: The formal process of delivering an accused or convicted person from authorities in one state to authorities in another state.
• Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. ^{Source: OCC}
• Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
• judicial department: means the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Oregon Tax Court, the circuit courts and all administrative divisions of those courts, whether denominated as boards, commissions, committees or departments or by any other designation. See Oregon Statutes 174.113
• Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
• Manager-managed limited liability company: means a limited liability company that is designated as a manager-managed limited liability company in the limited liability company's articles of organization or the articles of organization of which otherwise expressly provide that a manager will manage the limited liability company. See Oregon Statutes 63.001
• Member: means a member of the Citizens' Utility Board. See Oregon Statutes 774.010
• Member-managed limited liability company: means a limited liability company other than a manager-managed limited liability company. See Oregon Statutes 63.001
• Mortgagee: The person to whom property is mortgaged and who has loaned the money.
• Mortgagee: means any person who is:

  (a) A mortgagee under a mortgage;

  (b) A beneficiary under a trust deed; or

  (c) The vendor under a land sale contract. See Oregon Statutes 100.005

• Negotiation: means any activity preliminary to the execution by either developer or purchaser of a unit sales agreement, including but not limited to advertising, solicitation and promotion of the sale of a unit. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
• Operating agreement: means any valid agreement, written or oral, of the member or members as to the affairs of a limited liability company and the conduct of the limited liability company's business. See Oregon Statutes 63.001
• Party: includes an individual who was, is or is threatened to be made a named defendant or respondent in a proceeding. See Oregon Statutes 63.001
• Presentence report: A report prepared by a court's probation officer, after a person has been convicted of an offense, summarizing for the court the background information needed to determine the appropriate sentence. ^{Source: U.S. Courts}
• Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
• Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide.
• Recorded: means to cause to be recorded by the county officer in the real property records for each county in which the condominium is located. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Recording officer: means the county officer charged with the duty of filing and recording deeds and mortgages or any other instruments or documents affecting the title to real property. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
• Speech-language pathologist: means a person who practices speech-language pathology and who uses publicly any title or description of services including but not limited to the words 'speech-language pathologist,' 'speech correctionist,' 'speech therapist,' 'speech clinician,' 'language pathologist,' 'language therapist' or any similar titles or descriptions of services. See Oregon Statutes 681.205
• Speech-language pathology assistant: means a person who provides speech-language pathology services under the direction and supervision of a speech-language pathologist licensed under ORS § 681. See Oregon Statutes 681.205
• Summons: Another word for subpoena used by the criminal justice system.
• Testator: A male person who leaves a will at death.
• Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
• Trustor: The person who makes or creates a trust. Also known as the grantor or settlor.
• Turnover meeting: means the meeting provided for under ORS § 100. See Oregon Statutes 100.005
• Utility: means any utility regulated by the Public Utility Commission pursuant to ORS chapters 757 and 759, which furnishes electric, telephone, gas or heating service. See Oregon Statutes 774.010
• Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
