Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 230.213

  • Affirmative action: means specific actions in employment which are designed and taken for the purposes of all of the following:
      (a)    Ensuring equal opportunities. See Wisconsin Statutes 230.03
  • Director: means the director of the bureau. See Wisconsin Statutes 230.03
  • Population: means that shown by the most recent regular or special federal census. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
  • State: when applied to states of the United States, includes the District of Columbia, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the several territories organized by Congress. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
  • The director may, to meet affirmative action objectives, establish such recruitment and certification procedures for positions in the department of corrections as will enable the department of corrections to increase the number of employees of a specified gender or a specified racial or ethnic group in those positions. The director shall design the procedures to obtain a work force in the department of corrections that reflects the relevant labor pool. The director may determine the relevant labor pool from the population of the state or of a particular geographic area of the state, whichever is more appropriate for achieving the affirmative action objective.
