Active duty for training purposes: has the meaning given in 38 U. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01
Adult family home: means one of the following and does not include a place that is specified in sub. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01
Advanced practice nurse prescriber: means an advanced practice nurse who is certified under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01
Affected commodity: means any agricultural commodity for which the production, marketing, processing, handling, sale or distribution of is included under the terms of a marketing order or marketing agreement or a proposed marketing order or marketing agreement. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01
Affected producer or handler: means any producer or handler of an affected commodity, except that it does not include a producer or handler not assenting to a marketing agreement. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01
Agricultural commodity: means any agricultural, horticultural (excepting floricultural), viticultural, vegetable, poultry, and livestock products produced in this state, including for use as a bioenergy feedstock, including milk and milk products, bees and honey, or any class, variety or utilization thereof, either in their natural state or as processed by a producer for the purpose of marketing such product or by a processor, but not including timber and wood products, except timber and wood products used as a bioenergy feedstock. American Indian: means a person who is recognized by an elected tribal governing body in this state as a member of a federally recognized Wisconsin tribe or band of Indians. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01
Assent: means a signed statement of affected producers or handlers consenting to the terms of a marketing agreement. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01
Basic care: includes periodic skilled nursing services or physical, emotional, social or restorative care. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01
Bioenergy feedstock: means biomass used to produce energy, including transportation fuel, heat, or electricity. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01
Board: means the board of veterans affairs. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01
Charity: An agency, institution, or organization in existence and operating for the benefit of an indefinite number of persons and conducted for educational, religious, scientific, medical, or other beneficent purposes.
Child: means any biological child, any adopted child, any stepchild, or any other child who is a member of the veteran's household, or any nonmarital child if the veteran acknowledges paternity or paternity has been otherwise established. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01
Civil forfeiture: The loss of ownership of property used to conduct illegal activity.
Codicil: An addition, change, or supplement to a will executed with the same formalities required for the will itself.
Community-based residential facility: means a place where 5 or more adults who are not related to the operator or administrator and who do not require care above intermediate level nursing care reside and receive care, treatment or services that are above the level of room and board but that include no more than 3 hours of nursing care per week per resident. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01
Credit report: A detailed report of an individual's credit history prepared by a credit bureau and used by a lender in determining a loan applicant's creditworthiness. ^{Source: OCC}
Credit Score: A number, roughly between 300 and 800, that measures an individual's credit worthiness. The most well-known type of credit score is the FICO score. This score represents the answer from a mathematical formula that assigns numerical values to various pieces of information in your credit report. ^{Source: OCC}
Department: means the department of veterans affairs. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01
Department: means the department of health services. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01
Dependent: includes any of the following:

(a) A spouse, a surviving spouse, or a divorced spouse, but only if the divorced spouse is not remarried and is receiving child support or maintenance from the veteran under a court order. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01

Dependent person: means an individual who is eligible for relief under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01

deputy sealer: means a sealer of weights and measures and deputy sealer of weights and measures of a municipality, respectively. See Wisconsin Statutes 98.01

Domestic animal: means any of the following:

Executive session: A portion of the Senate's daily session in which it considers executive business.

Facility: means a nursing home or community-based residential facility. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Farm-raised deer: means a cervid that is kept in captivity or a cervid that is present in the wild and that has an ear tag or other mark identifying it as being raised on a farm. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Farm-raised fish: means any fish egg that is present on a fish farm or any fish that is reared on a fish farm. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Farm-raised game bird: has the meaning given in…. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Finance charge: The total cost of credit a customer must pay on a consumer loan, including interest. The Truth in Lending Act requires disclosure of the finance charge. ^{Source: OCC}

Fish farm: means a facility at which a person hatches fish eggs or rears fish for the purpose of introduction into the waters of the state, human or animal consumption, permitting fishing, use as bait or fertilizer or any other purpose specified by the department by rule or for sale to another person to rear for one of those purposes. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Food: has the meaning specified in…. See Wisconsin Statutes 99.01

Germane: On the subject of the pending bill or other business; a strict standard of relevance.

Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. ^{Source: Federal Reserve}

Handler: means any person engaged in the business of distributing or placing an agricultural commodity in commercial channels, or any person engaged in the business of processing an agricultural commodity. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01

Health care services: means such emergency and nonemergency medical, surgical, dental, hospital, nursing and optometric services as are reasonable and necessary under the circumstances, as determined by the county or tribal governing body. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01

Home health agency: has the meaning given under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Immediate jeopardy: means a situation in which a nursing home's noncompliance with one or more requirements under Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Inspector: means a state inspector of weights and measures. See Wisconsin Statutes 98.01

Intensive skilled nursing care: means care requiring specialized nursing assessment skills and the performance of specific services and procedures that are complex because of the resident's condition or the type or number of procedures that are necessary, including any of the following:

(a) Direct patient observation or monitoring or performance of complex nursing procedures by registered nurses or licensed practical nurses on a continuing basis. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Intermediate level nursing care: means basic care that is required by a person who has a long-term illness or disability that has reached a relatively stable plateau. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Joint tenancy: A form of property ownership in which two or more parties hold an undivided interest in the same property that was conveyed under the same instrument at the same time. A joint tenant can sell his (her) interest but not dispose of it by will. Upon the death of a joint tenant, his (her) undivided interest is distributed among the surviving joint tenants.

Licensed practical nurse: means a licensed practical nurse who is licensed or has a temporary permit under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Life estate: A property interest limited in duration to the life of the individual holding the interest (life tenant).

Live birth: means the complete expulsion or extraction from his or her mother, of a human being, at any stage of development, who, after the expulsion or extraction, breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut, and regardless of whether the expulsion or extraction occurs as a result of natural or induced labor, a cesarean section, or an abortion, as defined in…. Marital child: means either of the following:

(a) A child who is conceived or born while his or her parents are lawfully intermarried. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01

Marketing agreement: means an agreement entered into by the secretary under this chapter. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01

Marketing order: means an order issued by the secretary under this chapter. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01

Markup: The process by which congressional committees and subcommittees debate, amend, and rewrite proposed legislation.

Memorial: means a building, structure, statue, or creation used to keep alive the remembrance of a veteran, veterans group, or an event related to a veteran and may include land upon which the building, structure, statue, or creation is located. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01

Municipality: means a city or village. See Wisconsin Statutes 98.01

Net salvage value: means the salvage value of an animal plus any federal indemnity paid for the animal. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Nonmarital child: means a child who is neither conceived nor born while his or her parents are lawfully intermarried, who is not adopted and whose parents do not subsequently intermarry under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01

Nurse aide: means a person who performs routine patient care duties delegated by a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse who supervises the person, for the direct health care of a patient or resident. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Nursing care: means nursing procedures, other than personal care, that are permitted to be performed by a registered nurse under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Nursing home: means a place where 5 or more persons who are not related to the operator or administrator reside, receive care or treatment and, because of their mental or physical condition, require access to 24-hour nursing services, including limited nursing care, intermediate level nursing care and skilled nursing services. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Nursing home administrator: has the meaning assigned in…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Official vaccinate: means any female bovine animal officially reported to the department as having been vaccinated by an approved veterinarian at an age and in accordance with the procedures the department prescribes and which was properly tattooed at the time of vaccination as required by law or rules of the department. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Operator: means any person licensed or required to be licensed under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Paratuberculosis: means the disease of domestic ruminants, commonly known as Johne's disease, that is caused by mycobacterium paratuberculosis. See Wisconsin Statutes 95.001

Personal care: means assistance with the activities of daily living, such as eating, dressing, bathing and ambulation, but does not include nursing care. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Plan of correction: means a nursing home's response to alleged deficiencies cited by the department on forms provided by the department. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Plea agreement: An arrangement between the prosecutor, the defense attorney, and the defendant in which the defendant agrees to plead guilty in exchange for special considerations. ^Source:

Producer: means any person engaged in the business of producing or causing to be produced for market in commercial quantities any agricultural commodity. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01

Property: includes food; agricultural and commercial products, commodities or equipment; household furnishings; automobiles, boats, snowmobiles or other vehicles and conveyances; and all other items of a personal, family, household, agricultural, business or commercial nature which may be the subject of a contract of storage. See Wisconsin Statutes 99.01

Public warehouse: includes a food warehouse, as defined in…. See Wisconsin Statutes 99.01

Public warehouse keeper: means any person who is required to be licensed under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 99.01

Recuperative care: means care anticipated to be provided in a nursing home for a period of 90 days or less for a resident whose physician has certified that he or she is convalescing or recuperating from an illness or medical treatment. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Referendum: means any voting procedure under which affected producers or handlers may, by secret ballot, vote for or against the issuance, amendment or termination of a marketing order. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01

Registered nurse: means a registered nurse who is licensed under…. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Relief: means assistance that is provided to a dependent person and funded by a relief block grant. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01

Relief agency: means a tribal governing body or an agency under contract with a tribal governing body to administer relief if the tribal governing body operates a relief program funded by a relief block grant. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01

Resident: means a person who is cared for or treated in and is not discharged from a nursing home, community-based residential facility or adult family home, irrespective of how admitted. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Residential care apartment complex: means a place where 5 or more adults reside that consists of independent apartments, each of which has an individual lockable entrance and exit, a kitchen, including a stove, and individual bathroom, sleeping and living areas, and that provides, to a person who resides in the place, not more than 28 hours per week of services that are supportive, personal and nursing services. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Respite care: means care anticipated to be provided in a nursing home for a period of 28 days or less for the purpose of temporarily relieving a family member or other caregiver from his or her daily caregiving duties. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Revocable trust: A trust agreement that can be canceled, rescinded, revoked, or repealed by the grantor (person who establishes the trust).

Right of survivorship: The ownership rights that result in the acquisition of title to property by reason of having survived other co-owners.

Secretary: means the secretary of the department. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01

Short-term care: means recuperative care or respite care provided in a nursing home. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Skilled nursing services: means those services, to which all of the following apply, that are provided to a resident under a physician's orders:

(a) The services require the skills of and are provided directly by or under the supervision of a person whose licensed, registered, certified or permitted scope of practice is at least equivalent to that of a licensed practical nurse. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

sold: include barter or exchange, and any offering or exposing for sale or possession with intent to sell. See Wisconsin Statutes 98.01

stove: means a cooking appliance that is a microwave oven of at least 1,000 watts or that consists of burners and an oven. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Tax-free land: means land in this state within the boundaries of a federally recognized reservation or within the bureau of Indian affairs service area for the Winnebago tribe, which is not subject to assessment or levy of a real property tax either as a general tax or as a payment in lieu of taxes. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01

Tribal governing body: means an elected tribal governing body of a federally recognized American Indian tribe. See Wisconsin Statutes 49.01

Veterans home: means the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove, the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, and the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01

Victim advocate: work with prosecutors and assist the victims of a crime.

Violation: means a failure to comply with any provision of this subchapter or administrative rule promulgated thereunder. See Wisconsin Statutes 50.01

Vote: means to cast a ballot in a referendum or an election. See Wisconsin Statutes 96.01

War period: means any of the following:

(a) Indian War: between 1860 and 1898. See Wisconsin Statutes 45.01

Warehouse: means any building, room, structure or facility used for the storage of property. See Wisconsin Statutes 99.01

Weight: means net weight when used in reference to a commodity. See Wisconsin Statutes 98.01

Weights and measures: means weights and measures of every kind, instruments and devices for weighing and measuring, and any appliances and accessories used with any or all such instruments and devices, except meters for the measurement of electricity, gas (natural and manufactured) or water when the same are operated in a public utility system. See Wisconsin Statutes 98.01
