A federal judge has dismissed the EEOC's class action suit against media giant Bloomberg LP. The suit claimed that Bloomberg LP engaged in a systemic practice of discriminating against pregnant women and new mothers by reducing their pay or demoting them. The court ruled that any such discrimination was isolated and did not constitute standard operating procedure at Bloomberg LP. The court is allowing the EEOC to prosecute individual suits on behalf of women who claim to have suffered discrimination. EEOC lawyer Raechel L. Adams was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as saying that the EEOC "looks forward to pursuing the individual allegations."
