Sixty-six percent of 602 Michigan voters polled say they would support a new statewide initiative seeking to legalize medicinal marijuana use, according to a Detroit Free Press/Local 4 news poll. Five cities in Michigan have passed similar municipal measures since 2004, including Ann Arbor, Detroit, Ferndale, Flint, and Traverse City, according to NORML. If the new initiative is enacted, Michigan will be the thirteenth state to legalize medicinal marijuana use since 1996, and only the ninth state to accomplish this feat through voter initiatives.
