Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 4617

  • Association: means the Maine Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association created under section 4606. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 4605-A
  • Board of directors: means the board of directors of the association. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 4605-A
  • Member insurer: means an insurer or health maintenance organization that is licensed or that holds a certificate of authority to transact in this State any kind of insurance, annuity or health maintenance organization business for which coverage is provided under section 4603 and includes an insurer or health maintenance organization whose license or certificate of authority in this State may have been suspended, revoked, not renewed or voluntarily withdrawn, but does not include:

  • State: means a state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or a United States possession, territory or protectorate. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 24-A Sec. 4605-A
  • There is no liability on the part of and no cause of action of any nature may arise against any member insurer or its agents or employees, the association or its agents or employees, the board of directors or any member of the board or the superintendent or the superintendent’s representatives, for any act or omission by them in the performance of their powers and duties under this chapter. Immunity extends to the participation in any organization of one or more other state associations of similar purposes and to any such organization and its agents or employees.
