Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 28.20.130

  • judgment: means a judgment that is final by expiration without appeal of the time within which an appeal may be taken, or final by affirmation on appeal, given by a court of a state or of the United States, upon a cause of action arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of a vehicle of a type subject to registration under the laws of this state, for damages, including damages for care and loss of services, because of bodily injury to or death of a person, or for damages because of injury to or destruction of property, including the loss of use of property, or upon a cause of action on an agreement of settlement for such damages. The payment of a judgment arising out of an accident, or the payment upon judgment of an amount equal to the maximum amount that could be required for deposit under this chapter, for the purposes of this chapter, releases the judgment debtor from the liability evidenced by the judgment.
