(a) The department and the attorney general shall annually prepare a report relating to the medical assistance program under this chapter. The report must include the following information:

Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
Prosecute: To charge someone with a crime. A prosecutor tries a criminal case on behalf of the government.
state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(1) the amount and source of funds used to prevent or prosecutefraud, abuse, payment errors, and errors in eligibility determinations for the previous fiscal year;(2) actions taken to address fraud, abuse, payment errors, and errors in eligibility determinations during the previous fiscal year;(3) specific examples of fraud or abuse that were prevented or prosecuted;(4) identification of vulnerabilities in the medical assistance program, including any vulnerabilities identified by independent auditors with whom the department contracts under Alaska Stat. § 47.05.200;(5) initiatives the department has taken to prevent fraud or abuse;(6) recommendations to increase effectiveness in preventing and prosecuting fraud and abuse;(7) the return to the state for every dollar expended by the department and the attorney general to prevent and prosecute fraud and abuse;(8) the most recent payment error rate measurement report for the medical assistance program, including fee for service programs and pilot or demonstration projects; the report must also explain the reasons for the payment errors and the total amount of state and federal funds paid in error during the reporting period and not recovered by the department at the time of the report;(9) results from the Medicaid Eligibility Quality Control program.(b) On or before November 15 of each year, the department shall submit the report required under (a) of this section to the senate secretary and the chief clerk of the house of representatives and notify the legislature that the report is available.(c)[Repealed, Secs. 53, 61(f), 66 ch 25 SLA 2016.]
