A. At the beginning of any court proceeding held pursuant to this chapter, the court shall inquire if any party has reason to believe that any child who is subject to the proceeding is subject to the Indian child welfare act of 1978 (P.L. 95-608; 92 Stat. 3069; 25 United States Code §§ 1901 through 1963). This inquiry is not required if the court has already determined that the Indian child welfare act of 1978 applies.

B. If the child is subject to the Indian child welfare act, the court and parties shall meet all requirements of the act that are not prescribed by this chapter.
