- City: includes city and county. See California Harbors and Navigation Code 15
- County: includes city and county. See California Harbors and Navigation Code 14
- electrified fence: means any fence and appurtenant devices, including, but not limited to, fences and devices used in animal control, and including, but not limited to, a fence consisting of a single strand of wire supported by posts or other fixtures, which has an electrical charge or is connected to a source of electrical current and which is so designed or placed that a person or animal coming into contact with the conductive element of the fence receives an electrical shock. See California Food and Agricultural Code 17151
- Person: means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, limited liability company, or any organized group of persons whether incorporated or not. See California Food and Agricultural Code 38
- State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Water Code 18
