  • act: as used in this division , means the Improvement Bond Act of 1915. See California Penal Code 18780
  • ammunition: includes , but is not limited to, any bullet, cartridge, magazine, clip, speed loader, autoloader, or projectile capable of being fired from a firearm with a deadly consequence. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30176.1
  • assessment level: means the estimated gross dollar amount received by assessment from all assessed businesses on an annual basis, and "assessment formula" means the allocation method used within each industry segment (for example, percentage of gross revenue or percentage of transaction charges).   • Authority: means the Community Revitalization and Investment Authority created pursuant to this division. See California Insurance Code 1874.86
  • BB device: means any instrument that expels a projectile, such as a BB or a pellet, through the force of air pressure, gas pressure, or spring action, or any spot marker gun. See California Revenue and Taxation Code 30180
  • Broker: means a person engaged by others in the act of arranging, for compensation, the intrastate transportation of used household goods by a motor vehicle over the highways of this state for, or on behalf of, a shipper, a consignor, or a consignee. See California Government Code 53735
  • Bureau: refers to the Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair, Home Furnishings, and Thermal Insulation, as established in Section 9810. See California Government Code 53735
  • Chief: refers to the chief of the bureau. See California Government Code 53735
  • Child support obligee: as used in this chapter means either the parent, guardian, or other person to whom child support has been ordered to be paid or the local child support agency designated by the court to receive the payment. See California Government Code 53741
  • Corporation: includes a corporation, a company, an association, and a joint stock association. See California Government Code 53735
  • department: means the Department of Veterans Affairs. See California Government Code 13995.44
  • Department: refers to the Department of Consumer Affairs. See California Government Code 53735
  • director: means the Director of the Office of Administrative Hearings. See California Government Code 53728
  • Director: refers to the Director of Consumer Affairs. See California Government Code 53735
  • district: means an agency of the state, formed pursuant to general law or special act, for the local performance of governmental or proprietary functions within limited boundaries. See California Government Code 53720
  • firearm: includes the frame or receiver of the weapon:

  • Fund: means the Household Movers Fund established pursuant to Section 19229. See California Government Code 53735
  • gunsmith: means any person who is licensed as a dealer pursuant to Chapter 44 (commencing with Section 921) of Title 18 of the United States Code and the regulations issued pursuant thereto, who is engaged primarily in the business of repairing firearms, or making or fitting special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms, or the agent or employee of that person.   • Household mover: includes every corporation or person, their lessees, trustee, receivers, or trustees appointed by any court whatsoever, engaged in the permitted or unpermitted transportation for compensation or hire as a business by means of a motor vehicle or motor vehicles being used in the transportation of used household goods and personal effects over any public highway in this state.   • isomer: includes optical and geometrical (diastereomeric) isomers. See California Government Code 53723
  • large-capacity magazine: means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:

  • legislative body: means board of trustees, city council, or other governing body of a city. See California Government Code 14856
  • local agency: means a city, county, or district empowered to levy and collect assessments or taxes. See California Government Code 53730.5

  • nonresident: means a person who is not a resident of this State at the time he or she engages in business in the State as described in Section 19215. See California Government Code 53733
  • Noxious weed seed: means the seed or propagule of any species of noxious weed, as defined in Section 5004. See California Penal Code 32430
  • Person: includes an individual, a firm, or a copartnership. See California Government Code 53735
  • Plan: means a community revitalization and investment plan and shall be deemed to be the plan described in Section 16 of Article XVI of the California Constitution. See California Insurance Code 1874.86
