  • Affirmed: In the practice of the appellate courts, the decree or order is declared valid and will stand as rendered in the lower court.
  • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.

  • Commissioner: means the Insurance Commissioner of this State. See California Insurance Code 20
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.

  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Employee welfare benefit plan: as used in this article , has the same meaning as that contained in Section 1002(1) of Title 29 of the United States Code. See California Insurance Code 742.21
  • Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.
