  • Act: means the California Library Services Act. See California Education Code 18710
  • Action: means an action for partition under this title. See California Education Code 18703
  • Amount secured by the lien: includes interest and any costs and charges secured by the lien. See California Probate Code 10360
  • Board: means the Major Risk Medical Insurance Board. See California Insurance Code 10700
  • Carrier: means any disability insurance company or any other entity that writes, issues, or administers health benefit plans that cover the employees of small employers, regardless of the situs of the contract or master policyholder. See California Insurance Code 10700
  • Claim: means a demand for payment for any of the following, whether due, not due, accrued or not accrued, or contingent, and whether liquidated or unliquidated:

  • Committee: means the Safe Drinking Water Finance Committee created by Section 13895. See California Health and Safety Code 116053
  • costs: includes only the following:

  • court supervision: means the judicial order, authorization, approval, confirmation, or instructions that would be required if authority to administer the estate had not been granted under this part. See California Water Code 25111
  • Creditor: means a person who may have a claim against estate property. See California Water Code 23975
  • department: means the Department of Housing and Community Development. See California Probate Code 10309
  • Department: means the Department of Water Resources. See California Health and Safety Code 116053
  • Encumbered property: means real or personal property that is subject to a lien for a secured debt which is a valid claim against the estate and which has been allowed or approved. See California Probate Code 10360
  • Enrollee: means an eligible employee or dependent who receives health coverage through the program from a participating carrier. See California Insurance Code 10700
  • full authority: means authority to administer the estate under this part that includes all the powers granted under this part. See California Water Code 25112
  • Fund: means the California Safe Drinking Water Fund. See California Health and Safety Code 116053
  • Lien: means a mortgage, deed of trust, or other lien. See California Probate Code 10360
  • limited authority: means authority to administer the estate under this part that includes all the powers granted under this part except the power to do any of the following:

  • local agency: means a city, county, or city and county. See California Probate Code 10311
  • obligor: means any person owing a duty of support. See California Health and Safety Code 115840
  • Participating carrier: means a carrier that has entered into a contract with the program to provide health benefits coverage under this part. See California Insurance Code 10700
  • persons requiring supportive services: means persons who are eligible to receive housing assistance pursuant to federal law because of financial inability to provide adequate housing for themselves or persons dependent upon them, who are or will be participating in programs of rehabilitation, education, or social services, and who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Program: means the Health Insurance Plan of California. See California Insurance Code 10700
  • Project: means proposed facilities for the construction, improvement, or rehabilitation of the domestic water system, and may include water supply, treatment works, and all or part of a water distribution system, if necessary to carry out the purpose of this chapter.   • Property: includes real and personal property. See California Education Code 18703
  • Public agency: means any city, county, city and county, district, joint powers authority, or other political subdivision of the state which owns or operates a domestic water system. See California Health and Safety Code 116053
  • Public library: means a library, or two or more libraries, that is operated by a single public jurisdiction and that serves its residents free of charge. See California Education Code 18710
  • Regional board: means any California regional water quality control board for a region as specified in Section 13200. See California Health and Safety Code 116410
  • Special Services Programs: means a project establishing or improving service to the underserved of all ages. See California Education Code 18710
  • State board: means the California Library Services Board. See California Education Code 18710
  • State board: means the State Water Resources Control Board. See California Health and Safety Code 116410
  • Underserved: means any population segment with exceptional service needs not adequately met by traditional library service patterns, including, but not limited to, those persons who are geographically isolated, economically disadvantaged, functionally illiterate, of non-English-speaking or limited-English-speaking ability, homebound, or institutionalized, or who are persons with disabilities. See California Education Code 18710
  • Waste: includes sewage and any and all other waste substances, liquid, solid, gaseous, or radioactive, associated with human habitation, or of human or animal origin, or from any producing, manufacturing, or processing operation, including waste placed within containers of whatever nature prior to, and for purposes of, disposal. See California Health and Safety Code 116410
  • Waters of the state: means any surface water or groundwater, including saline waters, within the boundaries of the state. See California Health and Safety Code 116410
