  • City: includes "city and county" and "incorporated town" but does not include "unincorporated town" or "village. See California Government Code 20
  • Commissioner: means any county agricultural commissioner. See California Food and Agricultural Code 26
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • contract or contracts serving as an enforceable restriction on the sale or resale value of owner-occupied units: means a contract described in paragraph (11) of subdivision (a) of §. See California Government Code 54221
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • County: includes city and county. See California Food and Agricultural Code 29
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
  • Dispose: means either of the following:

  • district: as used in this article includes all districts within the state, including, but not limited to, all special districts, sewer, water, utility, and local and regional park districts, and any other political subdivision of this state that is a district, and therefore the changes in paragraph (1) made by the act adding this paragraph that specify that the provisions of this article apply to all districts, including school, sewer, water, utility, and local and regional park districts of any kind or class, are declaratory of, and not a change in, existing law.   • exempt surplus land: means any of the following:

  • Fee simple: Absolute title to property with no limitations or restrictions regarding the person who may inherit it.
  • Indemnification: In general, a collateral contract or assurance under which one person agrees to secure another person against either anticipated financial losses or potential adverse legal consequences. Source: FDIC
  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • local agency: means every city, county, city and county, district, or any other local governmental body or corporation empowered to expend public funds for the acquisition of property. See California Government Code 54201
  • Local agency: means every city, whether organized under general law or by charter, county, city and county, district, including school, sewer, water, utility, and local and regional park districts of any kind or class, joint powers authority, successor agency to a former redevelopment agency, housing authority, or other political subdivision of this state and any instrumentality thereof that is empowered to acquire and hold real property.   • Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
  • Open-space purposes: means the use of land for public recreation, enjoyment of scenic beauty, or conservation or use of natural resources. See California Government Code 54221
  • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means any individual, partnership, association, corporation, limited liability company, or any organized group of persons whether incorporated or not. See California Food and Agricultural Code 38
  • Process: includes a writ or summons issued in the course of judicial proceedings of either a civil or criminal nature. See California Government Code 22
  • Sectional planning area: means an area composed of identifiable planning units, within which common services and facilities, a strong internal unity, and an integrated pattern of land use, circulation, and townscape planning are readily achievable. See California Government Code 54221
  • Sectional planning area document: means a document or plan that sets forth, at minimum, a site utilization plan of the sectional planning area and development standards for each land use area and designation. See California Government Code 54221
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
  • Spouse: includes "registered domestic partner" as required by §. See California Business and Professions Code 14.2
  • State: means the State of California, unless applied to the different parts of the United States. See California Health and Safety Code 23
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  • Subdivision: means a subdivision of the section in which the term occurs unless some other section is expressly mentioned. See California Government Code 10
  • Surplus land: includes land held in the Community Redevelopment Property Trust Fund pursuant to §. See California Government Code 54221
