(a) Commencing with the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002, if a school district that received a priority school district grant pursuant to subsection (a) of § 10-266p for the prior fiscal year is no longer eligible to receive such a grant, such school district shall receive a priority school district phase-out grant for each of the three fiscal years following the fiscal year such school district received its final priority school district grant. The amount of such phase-out grants shall be determined in accordance with subsection (b) of this section.

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.

(b) (1) For the first fiscal year following the fiscal year such school district received its final priority school district grant, in an amount equal to the difference between (A) the amount of such final grant, and (B) an amount equal to twenty-five per cent of the difference between (i) the amount of such final grant, and (ii) the greater of two hundred fifty thousand dollars or the amount of the grants received by transitional school districts pursuant to § 10-263c. (2) For the second fiscal year following the fiscal year such school district received its final priority school district grant, in an amount equal to the difference between (A) the amount of such final grant, and (B) an amount equal to fifty per cent of the difference between (i) the amount of such final grant, and (ii) the greater of two hundred fifty thousand dollars or the amount of the grants received by transitional school districts pursuant to § 10-263c. (3) For the third fiscal year following the fiscal year such school district received its final priority school district grant, in an amount equal to the difference between (A) the amount of such final grant, and (B) an amount equal to seventy-five per cent of the difference between (i) the amount of such final grant, and (ii) the greater of two hundred fifty thousand dollars or the amount of the grants received by transitional school districts pursuant to § 10-263c.

(c) Commencing with the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004, if a school district that was not eligible to receive a priority school district grant pursuant to subsection (a) of said § 10-266p, for the prior fiscal year becomes eligible to receive such a grant, the amount of the grant such town receives pursuant to said section for the first year of such eligibility shall be reduced by fifty per cent.
