(a) Each person, firm or corporation that carries on or engages in a funeral service business, as defined in § 20-207, shall display, on a sign located immediately inside of such funeral service business, in a place proximate to the display of the license and certificate required by this chapter and in a manner visible to the public, the following ownership information:

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Funeral director: means any person engaged or holding himself or herself out as engaged in funeral directing whether or not he or she uses in connection with his or her name or business the words "funeral director" "undertaker" or "mortician" or any other word or title intended to designate him or her as a funeral director or mortician or as one so engaged. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-207
  • Funeral service business: means the business, practice or profession of funeral directing. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-207
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means an individual or corporation, but not a partnership. See Connecticut General Statutes 20-207

(1) The name of every licensed funeral director, as defined in § 20-207, who holds an ownership interest of ten per cent or more in the corporation, limited liability company, partnership, limited partnership or other business entity that operates such funeral service business; and

(2) The name of any corporation, limited liability company, partnership, limited partnership or other business entity that holds an ownership interest of ten per cent or more in such funeral service business.

(b) Each person, firm or corporation that carries on or engages in such funeral service business shall include, on any contract for the sale of funeral services or merchandise, the name, business address and business telephone number of any corporation, limited liability company, partnership, limited partnership or other business entity that holds an ownership interest of ten per cent or more in such funeral service business.
