Each person, handler, firm or corporation shall clearly mark each container of milk or milk product, cream, yogurt, cream cheese, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, soft cheese, eggnog or sour cream offered for retail sale with a last sale date. In accordance with the provisions of chapter 54, the Milk Regulation Board shall adopt regulations establishing standards and criteria for label type size, color and wording that is consistent with national standards and said board may incorporate by reference The Nutritional Education and Labeling Act, 21 CFR 101. The commissioner may impose a civil penalty, in accordance with the provisions of § 22-7, for a violation of this section.

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Handler: means any person, firm, corporation or cooperative association engaged in the receiving, handling, distribution or sale of fluid milk or milk products, which fluid milk or milk products, in whole or in part, are intended for bottling, manufacturing, processing, distribution or sale in this state.
