Connecticut General Statutes 22a-134o – Contract with hazardous waste transporter or company
(a) Any municipality, any group of municipalities or any regional council of governments organized under the provisions of sections 4-124i to 4-124p, inclusive, sponsoring a chemical disposal day shall enter into a contract with a hazardous waste transporter or waste collection company licensed under § 22a-454 to dispose of the hazardous waste collected during a chemical disposal day. Such contract shall (1) make the transporter or company, upon receipt of hazardous waste, liable for any violation of a federal or state statute concerning the generation, transportation or disposal of hazardous waste, (2) identify the transporter or company as the generator of hazardous waste collected and (3) make the transporter or company responsible for providing material and equipment for handling, labeling, loading and transporting hazardous waste.

- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Council: means the Connecticut Siting Council established under §. See Connecticut General Statutes 22a-115
- Disposal: means the incineration, long-term storage or treatment of hazardous waste, or the discharge, deposit, injection, dumping or placing of hazardous waste into or on land or water so that such hazardous waste or any hazardous constituent of such hazardous waste enters the environment, is emitted into the air, or is discharged into any waters, including groundwaters. - Hazardous waste: means any waste material which may pose a present or potential hazard to human health or the environment when improperly disposed of, treated, stored, transported, or otherwise managed, including (A) hazardous waste identified in accordance with Section 3001 of the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (42 USC 6901 et seq. See Connecticut General Statutes 22a-115
- Municipality: means a city, town or borough of the state. See Connecticut General Statutes 22a-115
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
(b) Any transporter or company may participate in a chemical disposal day program provided such transporter or company has (1) a number issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency identifying such transporter or company as the generator for the day and (2) at least one trained employee or agent is at the site on the chemical disposal day to identify, accept, place in containers, load and remove any waste collected.
