§457-1  Purpose.  In order to safeguard life and health, any person practicing or offering to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse, a registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse in this State for compensation shall be required to submit evidence that the person is qualified to so practice, and shall be licensed as provided in this chapter.  It shall be unlawful for any person not licensed under this chapter to practice or offer to practice nursing as an advanced practice registered nurse, a registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse; or to use any sign, card, or device, or in any manner indicate or imply that the person is an advanced practice registered nurse, a registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse.

Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes 457-1

  • Advanced practice registered nurse: means a registered nurse who has met the qualifications for advanced practice registered nurse licensure set forth in this chapter and through rules of the board, which shall include educational requirements. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 457-2
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Nurse: means a person licensed under this chapter or a person who holds a license under the laws of another state or territory of the United States that is equivalent to a license under this chapter. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 457-2
