Terms Used In Hawaii Revised Statutes > Chapter 379 - Recruiting and Hiring of Employees During Labor Disputes

  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.
  • Grantor: The person who establishes a trust and places property into it.
  • Internal Revenue Code: means subtitle A, chapter 1, of the federal Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended as of December 31, 2022, as it applies to the determination of gross income, adjusted gross income, ordinary income and loss, and taxable income, except those provisions of the Internal Revenue Code which, pursuant to this chapter, do not apply or are otherwise limited in application.   • month: means a calendar month; and the word "year" a calendar year. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 1-20
  • Motor scooter: has the meaning prescribed by § 286-2. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 431:10G-101
  • Motorcycle: has the meaning prescribed by § 286-2. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 431:10G-101
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: means , when appropriate to the context, not only individuals, but corporations, firms, associations, and societies. See Hawaii Revised Statutes 431:10G-101
  • Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
