Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 65 ILCS 5/1-2-12.1
- Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
A municipality may impose a fee up to $20 for bail processing against any person arrested for violating a bailable municipal ordinance or a State or federal law.
