  • Charity: An agency, institution, or organization in existence and operating for the benefit of an indefinite number of persons and conducted for educational, religious, scientific, medical, or other beneficent purposes.

The governing body of the city shall have power to determine whether or not patients presented at said city hospital for treatment are subject to charity, and shall fix such prices for compensation for patients, as the said governing body deems proper, the receipts therefor to be paid to the treasurer of said city and credited by the treasurer to the hospital funds.
