Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 22-4212
- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
- state: shall include any territory of the United States and the District of Columbia. See Kansas Statutes 22-4201
- Testify: Answer questions in court.
- Witness: as used in this article shall include a person whose testimony is desired in any proceedings or investigation by a grand jury or in a criminal action, prosecution or proceeding. See Kansas Statutes 22-4201
If a witness from another state comes into or passes through this state under an order directing him to attend and testify in this or another state, he shall not while in this state pursuant to the order be subject to arrest or the service of process, civil or criminal, because of any act committed prior to his arrival in this state under the order.
