Art. 806.  Change of venue; improper venue

Terms Used In Louisiana Children's Code 806

  • Court: means any city, parish, district, or juvenile, or its judge, when exercising juvenile jurisdiction as provided for in this Code. See Louisiana Children's Code 116
  • law: means a statute, a constitutional provision, or an ordinance of a city or other political subdivision of the state. See Louisiana Children's Code 116
  • venue: The geographical location in which a case is tried.

When a petition is filed in a court of improper venue, on the court’s own motion or upon written motion of a party and after contradictory hearing, the court may dismiss the petition or transfer the proceedings to a court of proper venue.
