- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Treatment: means an active effort to accomplish an improvement in the mental condition or behavior of a patient or to prevent deterioration in his condition or behavior. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
Persons or their responsible relatives who are able to pay all or a part of the cost of their maintenance or treatment or both at the units named in La. Rev. Stat. 28:22 through La. Rev. Stat. 28:22.5 shall reimburse the department to the extent of their ability to pay at rates to be fixed by the department.
