Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2013

A.  The fire department of the city of New Orleans shall adopt a written policy establishing a maximum age requirement for any person hired as a fire suppression employee of such department.  The written policy shall provide that no person shall be hired by the department as a fire suppression employee who exceeds thirty-five years of age at the time the person is hired as a fire suppression employee.  Such maximum age requirement shall not apply to a person hired by the department as a fire suppression employee who is a fireman as defined in La. Rev. Stat. 33:1991 immediately prior to being so hired.

B.  The provisions of this Section shall be superseded by any applicable state or federal law governing age discrimination.
