  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Notwithstanding § 4-301(b)(1) or § 4-302 of this article, a circuit court has exclusive, original jurisdiction over a misdemeanor under Title 8, Subtitle 5 of this article.
