- State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020
An eligible student may apply to the department for a loan under sections 191.500 to 191.550 only if, at the time of his application and throughout the period during which he receives the loan, he has been formally accepted as a student in a participating school in a course of study leading to the degree of doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy, including psychiatry, or a doctor of dental surgery, a doctor of dental medicine, or a bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene, and is a resident of this state.
