1. The board of trustees may contract with a community mental health center, mental health clinic, or other public facility or not-for-profit corporation as designated by the department for such comprehensive mental health services for the residents of such county as may be mutually agreeable between the board of trustees or officials of such center, clinic, facility, or corporation and the board of trustees of the county requesting the services for the residents thereof.

2. The consideration for the provision of services under this section shall be appropriated out of the county’s community mental health fund or may be appropriated out of the county’s general revenue fund and shall not exceed an amount of revenue that could be derived from a tax levy authorized by sections 205.977 to 205.980.

3. Each contract may be for a term of not exceeding five years, but may be renewed from time to time.
