Terms Used In Missouri Laws 537.210

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020

No contracts made between any railroad corporation, or between any person, company or corporation operating a mine or mines and their agents or servants, based upon the contingency of the injury or death to any such agent or servant, limiting the liability of the employer for any damages under the provisions of this and sections 537.180 to 537.200 shall be valid or binding, but all such contracts or agreements shall be null and void.
