Upon receipt of an application duly verified, a nonresident carnival operator shall be issued a thirty-day carnival operators’ permit to operate in Nebraska upon the payment of the following fees: For the gross vehicle weight of sixteen thousand pounds or less, ten dollars; for more than sixteen thousand pounds and not more than twenty-eight thousand pounds, fifteen dollars; for more than twenty-eight thousand pounds and not more than forty thousand pounds, twenty dollars; and for more than forty thousand pounds and not more than seventy-three thousand two hundred eighty pounds, twenty-five dollars, except that such a permit shall be issued only to out-of-state operators when the jurisdiction in which the motor vehicle and trailer is registered grants reciprocity to Nebraska. Such fees shall be paid to the county treasurer or persons designated by the director, who shall have authority to issue the permit when the applicant is eligible and pays the required fee. All fees collected under this section shall be paid into the state treasury and by the State Treasurer credited to the Highway Cash Fund.

  • Director: means the Director of Motor Vehicles. See Nebraska Statutes 60-321
  • Gross vehicle weight: means the sum of the empty weights of a truck or truck-tractor and the empty weights of any trailer, semitrailer, or combination thereof with which the truck or truck-tractor is to be operated in combination at any one time, plus the weight of the maximum load to be carried thereon at any one time. See Nebraska Statutes 60-330
  • Highway: means the entire width between the boundary limits of any street, road, avenue, boulevard, or way which is publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel. See Nebraska Statutes 60-332
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Motor vehicle: means any vehicle propelled by any power other than muscular power. See Nebraska Statutes 60-339
  • Operate: means to ride in or on and control the operation of a snowmobile. See Nebraska Statutes 60-3,207
  • State: when applied to different states of the United States shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories organized by Congress. See Nebraska Statutes 49-801
  • Trailer: means any device without motive power designed for carrying persons or property and being towed by a motor vehicle and so constructed that no part of its weight rests upon the towing vehicle. See Nebraska Statutes 60-354
