Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 618:14

  • Arraignment: A proceeding in which an individual who is accused of committing a crime is brought into court, told of the charges, and asked to plead guilty or not guilty.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
Except as otherwise provided by statute, the assessment of any costs against respondents in criminal cases is hereby forbidden; provided, however, that costs involving transportation of prisoners up to the time of court arraignment may be assessed against respondents, in the discretion of the superior court.
