Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 24:2-2

• Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
• local board of health: means the board of health of any municipality, or the boards, bodies, or officers in such municipality lawfully exercising the powers of a local board of health under the laws governing such municipality, and includes any consolidated local board of health or county local board of health created and established pursuant to law.
