1. Only a person certified under this article shall use the title “state certified real estate appraiser” or licensed under this article shall use the title “state licensed real estate appraiser” or “state licensed real estate appraiser assistant” or assume that title or any title, designation or abbreviation likely to create the impression of certification or license by this state as a real estate appraiser or real estate appraiser assistant. After December thirty-first, nineteen hundred ninety-one, only a person who is certified or licensed pursuant to this article shall describe or refer to any appraisal or other evaluation of real estate located in this state by the term “certified” or “licensed”.

  • Appraisal: A determination of property value.
  • Real estate: means an identified parcel or tract of land, including improvements, if any. See N.Y. Executive Law 160-A
2. Nothing in this article shall preclude a person who is not a state certified or licensed real estate appraiser or a licensed real estate appraiser assistant from appraising real estate for compensation.
