(a)  The clerk of the family court, with the approval of the chief judge thereof, shall appoint as many assistant clerks as may be necessary, who shall hold office until removal by the clerk or by a majority of the justices.

  • Chief judge: The judge who has primary responsibility for the administration of a court but also decides cases; chief judges are determined by seniority.

(b)  The clerk is hereby authorized and empowered to employ such clerical assistants, in addition to the assistant clerks, as he or she may require in his or her office in copying, recording, indexing, and attending upon the files of the court.
