No person shall operate any vehicle, including, but not limited to, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and all–terrain vehicles, upon any private land without permission from the owner or lessee of such land. The provisions of this section shall not apply to a vehicle used on a highway or other public right–of–way in accordance with the provisions of chapter 32-20A. A violation of this section is a Class 2 misdemeanor.
