Terms Used In Texas Special District Local Laws Code 3001.153
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Property: means real and personal property. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Signed: includes any symbol executed or adopted by a person with present intention to authenticate a writing. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Written: includes any representation of words, letters, symbols, or figures. See Texas Government Code 311.005
An obligation secured by an assessment may not be issued unless the district receives a written petition requesting the assessment and issuance of obligations. The petition must be signed by each owner of the property proposed for assessment.
