Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 5 Sec. 1007

  • Airport: means any area of land or water set aside by the Agency, any political subdivision, or person, except a restricted landing area, that is designed for the landing and take-off of aircraft, and used or to be used in the interest of the general public whether or not facilities are provided for the shelter, servicing, or repair of aircraft, or for receiving or discharging passengers or cargo, and all appurtenant areas used or suitable for airport buildings or other airport facilities, including all appurtenant rights-of-way.   • Airport hazard: means a structure, object of natural growth, or use of land that obstructs the air space required for the flight of aircraft in landing or taking off at an airport or restricted landing area or is otherwise hazardous to landing or taking off. See
  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Board: means the Transportation Board. See
  • Political subdivision: means any county, city, town, or other municipality. See

§ 1007. Adoption or amendment of airport zoning regulations

Airport zoning regulations shall not be adopted, amended, or changed under this chapter except by action of the legislative body of the political subdivision in question, or the joint board provided for in section 1003 of this title, after a public hearing, at which parties in interest and citizens shall have an opportunity to be heard. At least 15 days’ notice of the hearing shall be published in a paper of general circulation in the political subdivision in which the airport hazard area to be zoned is located.
