In Alaska Stat. § 47.30.41047.30.460

(1) “executive authority,” “governor,” and “chief magistrate,” respectively, as applied to a request to return a person under Alaska Stat. § 47.30.41047.30.460 to or from the District of Columbia, include a justice of the supreme court of the District of Columbia and other authority;

Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 47.30.450

  • action: includes any matter or proceeding in a court, civil or criminal. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(2) “flight” and “fled” mean a voluntary or involuntary departure from the jurisdiction of the court where the proceedings mentioned in Alaska Stat. § 47.30.41047.30.460 have been instituted and are still pending, with the effect of avoiding, impeding, or delaying the action of the court in which the proceedings have been instituted or are pending, or a voluntary or involuntary departure from the state where the person demanded then was, if the person then was under detention by law as a person of unsound mind and subject to detention;
(3) “state” includes states, territories, districts, and insular and other possessions of the United States.
