The declaration of a homestead must contain:

- Person: means an individual, organization, government, political subdivision, or government agency or instrumentality. See North Dakota Code 1-01-49
1. A statement that the person making it is residing on the premises and claims them as a homestead; 2. A description of the premises; and
3. An estimate of their cash value.
